File Preparation & Production
After customers place paid Upload Print orders, your team can move accepted jobs through Print File Preparation and into production. This page covers preparation presets, scheduling, queue states, and downloads.
Print File Preparation
Accepted Upload Print orders can enter rule-based Print File Preparation. Preparation applies your configured rules to source files — for example generating print-ready outputs, normalizing formats, or applying preset transformations — before handoff to production.
Preparation presets
Preparation behaviour is driven by configurable preparation presets. Each preset defines the rules and outputs applied to matching jobs. You can maintain different presets for product types, media, or production workflows.
Processing schedule
Preparation can run on a schedule or on demand:
| Schedule | Description |
|---|---|
| Daily | Once per day |
| Every 12 hours | Twice per day |
| Every 6 hours | Four times per day |
| Hourly | Once per hour |
| Manual | Runs only when you trigger processing |
Run limits and resilience
Each preparation run respects operational guardrails:
- Maximum files per run — caps how many files are processed in a single batch so long queues do not overload the server
- Skip previously processed files — avoids re-processing jobs that already completed successfully
- Continue when an individual file fails — one failed file does not stop the rest of the batch
- Failure notification — alerts you when files fail so they can be reviewed in the queue
Production queue states
Jobs appear in the preparation / production queue with clear statuses:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ready | Preparation completed; file is ready for production or download |
| Awaiting | Queued or waiting for the next scheduled or manual run |
| Needs Review | Completed with warnings or requires operator review before production |
| Failed | Preparation did not succeed; inspect and retry or fix the source file |
Batch and manifest downloads
From the production workflow, staff can download batches of prepared files and associated manifests for shop-floor or RIP handoff. Manifests help match files to order lines without opening each order individually.
